Bellis Community Information

As surveyors for the rail line arrived in Bellis in 1916 the town moved from 2 miles south to this location and grew in 1919 as the railway arrived.

The Hamlet of Bellis is administered by the County of Smoky Lake and in 2021 had a population of 60 residents. Students from Bellis area are bussed to Smoky Lake Schools.

Accessibility Description

Traveling on Hwy 28, take the Bellis turnoff. The staging area is to the right just as you come in to the community. It is kitty corner to the Bellis Heritage Corner Shoppe.

Please note – unless otherwise indicated, all staging areas and rest stops are day use only with no overnight camping allowed. If people need to overnight, a letter of authorization must be obtained in advance from the Iron Horse Trail office call 1-877-645-4521 or email info@ironhorsetrail.ca
