This trail takes visitors through an example of a Ohio prairie habitat. Grasslands such as this provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, both plants and animals, which are not found in other habitats. Prairies were once common in southwest Ohio. They were remnants of a time some 6000-8000 years ago when western Ohio was drier. Prairie plants grow mainly in the summer and set seeds in the fall.

This prairie was planted by MetroParks to showcase this important Ohio habitat. Follow the trail to experience scenic beauty of an Ohio prairie.
