The west end beach access trail begins on the western side of the Nashawakemuck Loop.  It is a sandy path at first through the woods and then as it opens up to views of the Sound, it goes down a series of lumber steps to the beach.  It is quite eroded in places so it is for the more rugged hiker!  Otherwise, the eastern stair to the beach is easier.
