The Sacramento River Trail is the backbone of Redding's extensive trail system. Connecting from Shasta Dam to the heart of the City, the trail is designated by the National Park Service as a National Recreation Trail. Stop and see the world-renowned Sundial Bridge, and the unique 420' concrete and steel Stress Ribbon Bridge. There are many trailheads and different connector trails to enjoy, try to explore them all! The South Sacramento River Trail connects from the Diestelhorst Bridge, past the Stress Ribbon Bridge to the Keswick Dam. For a real challenge, link up with the BLM's Sacramento River Rail Trail for an additional 11-mile ride all the way to the Shasta Dam. The Section from the Diestelhorst Bridge to the Stress Ribbon makes up an approximately 6-mile loop popular with walkers and joggers.
