Accessing the overlook involves travelling next to distinctive sandstone formations of the Santa Monica Mountains. The trip to the overlook winds along the ridge line. Trail users can enjoy spectacular views of the Los Angeles basin, the Pacific Ocean, and islands off the California coast.

The trail is accessed by foot, bicycle, or horse from East Topanga Fire Road. To access the fire road from PCH, take Sunset Boulevard 0.3 miles and turn left onto Los Liones Drive. There are two staging areas, both on the right side of the road, along with multiple trailheads to the east. Fire Station 23 is on the corner. Please note that no dogs are allowed on the trail.
