This section of the Lake Hopatcong trail is coaligned with the Highlands Trail. It pass through some of the more isolated sections of the Borough of Hopatcong, which is categorized by New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) as next-to-highest (Conservation Rank 4) in requiring protection for habitat and species. 

This section of the trail is best access from the Mt Inlet spur (park at the Kayak Launch), allowing you to head west toward the Mt Brook Marsh and Bear Pond or East toward Prospect Point Rd and Liffy Island.

Accessibility Description

This area of the trail is natural ground surface, with uneven pitch, and is rocky at points. The trail segment just east of the Mt Inlet spur is a short, modestly steep, rock climb.
