Berryessa Peak Trail is possibly the hardest hike in Napa County. The trail starts on Berryessa Knoxville Road at mile marker 20 and heads east 7 1/4 miles to the summit with a 3,500 foot elevation gain. The trail is an out-and-back. There are no amenities, so bring plenty of food and water for the 14.5-mile round trip.
The trail passes closely by and/or over private property, so please stay on the trail. As there are transmitter towers on the peak, the last 1.5 miles to the top is along a gravel service road with little shade. There are spectacular views of Lake Berryessa and Yolo County from the peak as well as from many other locations along the trail.
