Ohio’s state forests are managed for multiple uses including sustainable timber production, wildlife habitat, soil and water protection, and recreation. The APV trails at Pike State Forest were built and are maintained utilizing techniques developed for the use of motorized equipment in forested conditions to create access for fire control and timber management. Outstanding examples of forest conditions and timber types indicative of the area can be viewed from the trails.
