Midtimber Lake Cabin is located within the Yakataga State Game Refuge. This cabin is perhaps one of the most wild and remote locations within the Alaska Public-Use Cabin System.

The Midtimber Lake Cabin is located on the northwestern end of Midtimber Lake within the Yakataga State Game Refuge. Fishing and Flying and Cordova Air fly regularly in the area and are familiar with landing sites. Float plane landing are possible depending on ice and weather conditions. The natural airstrip adjacent to the USGS Field camp (known as Moose International) is accessible by tundra-tired planes as conditions allow.
