JOURNAL ENTRY THREE: What a Sucker
One of the joys I find in nature is not always needing to see the wildlife to know it's there. For instance, the deceased hawthorn tree I discovered today tells me that a certain wood-boring bird has frequented these parts. I might be quick to pin this evidence on an elusive woodpecker, but there's something strangely regular going on here that tells me this might be the work of a crimson-colored relative.
