The Big Wood National Recreation Trail follows the Big Wood River from Lake Creek Trailhead upstream to the new Fox Creek Trailhead. The BWNRT feeds the very popular Fox Creek trail system, that sees over 20,000 visitors annually. It is popular with hikers, runners, mountain bikers and horsemen. It is also popular with fishermen, as the adjacent Big Wood River is a blue ribbon trout stream. The BWNRT is in the Smoky Mountains of Idaho, just outside the resort town of Ketchum, home to the Sun Valley Ski Area.
