The about 1.2 mile long Stevens Creek Trail in Cupertino is a wonderful place to experience the creek's riparian environment. When Cupertino decided to build this trail, they begin the project as a creek restoration, removing picnic grounds and parking lots to allow the creek to be rerouted back to its earlier, meandering and longer path, eliminating the need for concrete rip-rap and sandbags from most of the creek banks. The restored creek provides much more habitat for developing fish with backwaters and lush foliage.

Multiple neighborhood access points serve the community for access and crossing this area, but most visitors will want to experience the full length of the trail. Parking is available at the South end at McClellan Ranch Preserve. Here you will find the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail office, as well as Santa Clara County Audubon office and store. There is also a very pleasant walking trail along the banks of the creek around the meadow of the preserve.

At the North end is the Stocklmeir Historic Orchard, owned now by the city of Cupertino. Oranges still grow plentifully here, providing food to local food banks.
