Bring your favorite detectives with you on a special nature adventure that will have you and your family hunting for clues and searching for animal tracks as you explore the incredible Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Each waypoint of this Daycation has a mystery to solve, and don’t forget to keep an eye open for wildlife! Then, take a break and have a picnic lunch at the covered tables back at the Education Shelter.
Location: Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge
Hours: The refuge is open from dawn to dusk.
Trails: River Trail and Ridgetop Trail open year-round. Wetland trail only open from May 1st - September 30th.
Features: A scavenger hunt, a plethora of critters and creatures to spot, animal tracks to decipher, a path through the refuge perfect for strollers and new walkers, and the chance for a picnic outside no matter what the weather!
Parking: Parking is available in the lot at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.
Directions (From the Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge):
- From the North: Drive southbound on Highway 99W and continue through the town of King City. Approximately .7 miles beyond the Cipole Rd traffic light, turn right into the refuge. Look for brown highway guide signs.
- From the South: Drive northbound on Highway 99W, approximately 1 mile north of Tualatin-Sherwood Road. Look for brown highway guide signs directing you to make a U-turn in order to enter into the refuge.
Potty Break: Bathrooms are CLOSED (both at the trailhead and in the visitor’s center). There are two portapotties in the parking lot, one of which is ADA.
Closed Areas: The visitor center, photography blind, office, and facility restrooms. The seasonal trail is closed until May 2022.

Ubicación: Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre del Río Tualatin
Características: Una búsqueda de tesoros, montones de animalitos y criaturas para descubrir, huellas de animales con historias para descifrar, un camino a través del refugio perfecto para cochecitos y nuevos caminantes, y la oportunidad de tener un picnic al aire libre sin importar el clima.
Estacionamiento: El estacionamiento está disponible en el lote principal del Refugio.
Si necesitas Baño: Los baños están CERRADOS (En el comienzo del sendero como en el centro de visitantes). Hay dos portapisos en el estacionamiento, uno de los cuales es ADA.
Areas cerradas: El centro de visitantes, la persiana fotográfica, la oficina y los baños de las instalaciones. El camino de temporada está cerrado hasta mayo de 2022.
