Nature Sounds: Stump Thumping

Contact Information

Description

A ruffed grouse drums whenever his stage—the stump—isn't buried too deep in snow. His rapid, frantic wingbeats can reach up to 50 in just 8-10 seconds. Even if his mate isn’t impressed this time, no worries—he may be knocked down, but he'll get up again!

The Nature Sounds series combines a live, acoustic performance by local musicians with an educational nature presentation about the sounds made and found in all of our outdoor spaces.

Admission to all Nature Sounds concerts and programs is free. Bring your own seating.
