This introductory class is for both the absolute beginner and those who have paddled in the past but have not had formal instruction. In this class you will learn how to size your paddle to your height, enter and exit your board safely, propel your standup paddleboard (SUP) from a variety of positions (seated, kneeling and/or standing), how to return back onto your SUP in the event you fall off, at least two turns and drills to practice them, how to tow a friend who is fatigued and can no longer paddle, how to paddle in a strong headwind, how to paddle to power, safety when paddling in close proximity to another vessel, ideas for stretches and down time on your board to just BE on the water.
This event is open to ages 8+ with an adult. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult. $20 In-city fee, $25 Non-city fee. Register by May 5.
