SCV Trail Users is working with the County of Los Angeles to repair the Los Piñetos trail from damage sustained during the Sand Fire in 2016, subsequent rains, and over-growth as the trail has been closed to the public for three years. County trail crews have recently finished their work with a trail dozer and other machinery. SCV Trail Users will be clearing brush from the trail from top to bottom and building water bars to improve drainage on the steeper sections of the trail. The County will re-open the Los Piñetos trail to the public when our work is complete.
Please come join us for our next workday on Saturday, August 10th at 8am. We will meet at the Walker Ranch Campground (at the bottom of the Los Pinetos trail) which can be accessed in your car from Placerita Canyon Road. The County will open the gate for us. Find driving directions here.
What to bring: Jeans, long sleeve shirt, boots, gloves, hat, sunscreen, water, snacks, and tools (non-gas-powered tools for cutting back brush). SCV Trail Users will have plenty of tools for those that need them.
We will end early on account of the summer heat. Lunch will be provided at eleven-thirty at the Walker Ranch Campground.
Volunteers who work two days on SCV Trail Users projects will receive an SCVTU t-shirt.
Please RSVP by sending an email to scvtrailusers@gmail.com so that we can have a headcount for lunch and tools.
