This program goes into thorough detail of finding, processing, and using the parts of a bow-drill. The program includes knife safety, tree identification, history, and techniques. Every participant will leave with a bow-drill kit and a working knowledge of how to use it. Everyone receives detailed instruction, has time to practice, and goes home with the materials and knowledge needed for future fire-making. Bring a fixed-blade knife if you have one.
Participants will meet in the Sycamore Shelter.
For ages 12+. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a registered adult. To make sure we prepare enough materials for this program, we ask that all participants PLEASE REGISTER by August 30th. You can do so by following the link on this page or by calling the Parks & Rec Dept directly. Thank you!
