Learn from Forest Society Foresters about their goals for managing the natural resources on a this 65-acre property that has been under Forest Society ownership for over 40 years and see an active timber harvest in process. Hear from the consulting forester in charge of the timber harvest who will explain the steps involved with implementing a timber harvest. The tour will start at the landing and will involve light hiking over uneven terrain to the interior forest areas in the process of being cut. Additional discussion will include timber markets, picking the right machinery for the job and considerations for recreational trails, hydrology and wildlife habitat. Bring your questions as there will be plenty of time throughout the tour for those!
