Storybook Walk at Edgartown Sanctuary

Sheriff's Meadow Foundation

Edgartown Public Library has teamed up with SMF to offer a series of self-guided storybook walks at Sheriff's Meadow Sanctuary in Edgartown.

This activity is for children of any age and their caregivers. It features pages from a children's book and suggested activities posted on stands installed along the half-mile Ruth and Ed Brooks Trail, which offers scenic views of Eel Pond, Nantucket Sound, Sheriff’s Meadow pond, John Butler’s Mudhole, and the surrounding environment.

The walk begins near the informational kiosk by the parking area on Plantingfield Way. Storybook walks give children an opportunity to engage with a story while enjoying the outdoors and getting exercise. These walks also help young readers make connections between the story in a book and the world around them.
