Wolf Run is nestled in Noble County, the last of Ohio’s 88 counties to be formed. Rich in mineral resources, the area has hosted coal, iron ore, and salt industries. In 1814, oil was accidentally discovered during the drilling of a brine well. As prices plummeted during the Civil War, so did major drilling efforts. The region’s second[1]growth forest now provides high-quality outdoor recreation, such as camping, hiking, fishing, boating, hunting, and winter recreation. Wolf Run also operates the state’s only primitive fly-in camping area, near the Noble County airport.
