A classic sand plain grassland habitat, whose survival in this location was a matter of good fortune. The land’s use for decades as a grass-strip airport prevented the land's succession into woodland. Ongoing rescue efforts are underway for sand plain species --- purple tiger beetle, sand plain blue-eyed grass, purple needle grass, bearberry, wild indigo and sickle-leaf golden aster. The restoration effort is a dynamic process. Please stay on designated trails and follow property rules.
