In the late 1790s, the first settlers to the Athens County region were enticed to make this land their home, coinciding with the establishment of the first college in the Northwest Territory. Located a few miles from Ohio University in Athens, Strouds Run draws a mix of trail and lake users. Miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding provide scenic views from its trails. Dow Lake offers boating, paddling, and swimming. A shady seasonal campground, perfect for tent camping, is a short walk from the lake.
