The Vineyard’s choicest agricultural soils are found in Katama and in the Mill Brook valley; this “Square Field” is located precisely in the middle of the latter. Parts of this land was conserved in a joint effort to keep the island’s best soils from being squandered.  Some trails are closed during bird and deer hunting seasons. Heed all posted signs as to when entry is allowed.

Go down Old Courthouse Road from its intersection with the State Road in North Tisbury until the pavement ends.  Park at the trailhead.  Trail can also be accessed at the SW corner of property at 830 State Road and NW of the corner of Panhandle and Old County Roads.
