Established in 2002, this 154-acre preserve contains a major tributary entering the Meander Reservoir. Nearly a mile of Sawmill Creek flows here, but because other small waterways traverse the property, it provides a significant degree of protection for the region’s natural resources.
The forests consist mainly of eastern cottonwood and black willow. The open meadows support numerous small wetland habitats. Sugar maple grow along Sawmill Creek, while American beech and other mixed hardwoods dominate the forests. Several small vernal pools provide breeding opportunities for the spotted salamander and other amphibians. This facility includes several miles of hiking trails and a connection to the MetroParks Bikeway,
