Purchased to keep the bluff top Ramble Trail from disappearing and to expand the protected lands around the abutting Brightwoods Park, a glacial ravine of some considerable depth. Cliff steps guide visitors down to the Lagoon Pond’s stony beach. The preserve abuts the Oklahoma subdivision which was designed in the late 1800s as a New York City actor’s resort; plans called for a “lake ramble” to run atop the Lagoon Pond bluff with views over to Oak Bluffs.
Follow Winyah Lane 0.6 miles from its intersection with the Vineyard Haven - Edgartown Road. Then turn right onto Weaver Lane. There is a fire hydrant on your right at Weaver Lane. (no road sign) Follow Weaver Lane to the shellfish hatchery; trailhead is adjacent.
