Protecting the island’s ridgelines is a conservation goal,  in order to afford the public high, long views undisturbed by the view of houses. The ocean view here is the reward for mounting the hill.  Granville Manter owned land here in the mid-1800s and grew crops including rye, oats, peas, beans and barley; the preserve area was probably out-pasture for his cows.

From the intersection of Middle Road and Tea Lane, go up Tea Lane 0.6 miles; trailhead is on the right.
