Starting in the 1910s, the property served as the Mahoning County Experimental Farm. The facility was managed by The Ohio State University for research, improvements in planting, livestock production, and pest management. Since 1990, Mill Creek MetroParks has operated the property under a lease from Mahoning County. Today this 405-acre working farm is open seasonally and offers access to the MetroParks Bikeway, Mindy Henning Memorial Trail, an 18-hole and 9-hole disc golf course, natural playground, archery range, Agventure Barn and animal barns, two ponds, sunflower fields, and a NCAA Cross County Course.
The Administration Office is located on the property along with McMahon Hall and classrooms available for rent.
