An isolated sanctuary abutting the State Forest protecting the Island’s sole-source aquifer from development. A tranquil expanse of oak forest where trails wind through low trees and shrubs, providing easy travel for walkers, bikers and horses.
Walk or bike to the trailheads on Great Plains Road and Chicama Path. Or park at the pullout along the Barnes Road bike path, then walk west along the fire trail that skirts the Martha’s Vineyard Airport, almost to the end of the second runway. A trail leads north from here to the Greenlands.
