Manito Park is the crown jewel of the Spokane parks system. It occupies nearly one hundred acres on the South Hill and provides Spokane residents and visitors access to numerous curated gardens, a lovely pond, play spaces and walkways. Once home to the Spokane Zoo, the park was redesigned by the Olmstead Brothers in the early twentieth century to emulate fine European parks and gardens. The park welcomes over one hundred fifty thousand visitors a year.
