This is the northeastern most section of the Lubbers Run Greenway, which includes the headwaters of Lubbers Run creek. The Lubbers Run Greenway is one of three Borough-wide network of ecological zones.

Running southwest from its headwaters in the northern part of the Borough, Lubbers Run creek defines the border of Hopatcong and Byram Township for much of its course from Tomahawk Lake to Dallis Pond. Lubbers Run flows through much of Hopatcong’s most wildlife-friendly areas, taking advantage of the steeply sloped, rocky terrain in the Borough’s northwest that has discouraged human marks on the landscape and preserved much of its natural characteristics. The greenway area is categorized by New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) as next-to-highest (Conservation Rank 4) in requiring protection for habitat and species.
