Lualualei Forest Reserve is located in Wai'anae, O'ahu and is apporximately 788-acres large. Since July, 1918, Lualualei Forest Reserve has been used to start forest nurseries, the first of which was established on west slope of the Wai'anae Mountains. Most of the the seedlings were first started in the Makiki Nursery, and then shipped out to the location and planted once they are sufficient size. This planting included roughly 5,304 tress, with 3,826 of them being Koa.
