Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, east of La Cienega Boulevard, is managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and includes large areas of native coastal sage scrub habitat, lawns and landscaped areas, picnic sites, tot lots, fishing lake, lotus pond, community center and seven miles of trails. There are six restrooms; the community center has four administrative offices and a small meeting room.

Active recreation and facilities in KHSRA include the following:

  • Seven miles of trails
  • Four playgrounds
  • One half basketball court
  • One fishing lake
  • Two lighted baseball diamonds
  • One lit multi-purpose field
  • One sand volleyball court
  • One administrative building with a meeting room

Passive recreation includes eight picnic rental shelters and 100 picnic tables throughout the park. There are also eight large barbecue pits and 60 small ones dispersed throughout the park. For more information, visit the park's website

Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, managed by California State Parks, is accessed from 6300 Hetzler Road in Culver City.  Visitors can take in breathtaking views of the entire Los Angeles Basin, Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains. Hike through restored native habitat and get your workout ascending the stairs to the top of the overlook from Jefferson Boulevard. 

Dogs allowed only on the paved road. Dogs not allowed on the trails.

Kenneth Hahn SRA Alternative Transportation

The Link – Baldwin Hills Parklands Shuttle Bus

Transports park visitors from the Metro Expo La Cienega Station to Kenneth Hahn State Recreational Area and the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. 

The Parklands Shuttle operates 8 am – 6:00 pm Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays. Rides are 25 cents one way. The shuttle is free for Seniors and children under 5. 

The shuttle has 3 routes with stops located at: La Cienega/Jefferson Metro bus stop adjacent to the Expo Station; Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook; and Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. Shuttles run on a 20-minute route, are airconditioned and ADA accessible.

Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook Information

The park's main entrance is at 6300 Hetzler Rd. in Culver City off of Jefferson Blvd.

Take in breathtaking views, hike through restored native habitat, and enjoy a state of the art visitor center at your stunning new urban park, Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. Visitors can begin to discover, or residents can rediscover Los Angeles from this 500 ft. peak just southwest of downtown. Access the peak via the main hiking trail on Jefferson Blvd. that winds upward one mile, or take a more direct path up 282 steep steps to the peak of the hill, popularly nicknamed, “Culver City Stairs”. Access is also available from the upper parking lot. Visitors are treated to a panoramic view of the entire Los Angeles Basin, the Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains. Seasonal displays of native wildflowers, bird and wildlife viewing, picnicking and opportunities for kids and families to connect with the park's natural and cultural heritage are here for visitors to experience. People can enjoy the scents of nature, recreate, learn about the natural and cultural heritage of Los Angeles and be inspired by the view.
